A great way to see Egypt combining city sightseeing with Red Sea relaxation. Starting in Cairo with a visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza followed by a guided tour of the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities and a spot of shopping in the famous bazaars. Luxor is our next stop with it’s great temples and the Valley of the Kings and Queens. Set sail on a Felucca boat along the River Nile before heading off to the Red Sea resort of Dahab. This former Bedouin fishing village has a relaxed bohemian vibe and is a haven for divers, windsurfers and artists alike. Relax on the beach, dive the beautiful coral reefs, camp overnight in the desert or spend an adrenalin fueled day quad biking, the choice is yours!
Multiple Comfort | Our recommend choice for all tours is the Comfort Style, which is generally in a 3* category. This style choice gives you comfortable hotels with good service and facilities, whilst keeping a local appeal. Our aim to to use only locally owned hotels whenever possible on this tour.
Felucca | Overnight aboard a traditional felucca is an adventure. The felucca is parked on the banks of the Nile and the deck is turned into a communal sleeping area. Mattresses are provided and wind shields are wrapped around to protect from the wind, a mosquito net can also be provided. Some feluccas provide "toilets" although the more traditional boats require that the captain pulls over and directs you of where to relive yourself.
EMBAH is committed to the elements of responsible & sustainable tourism, and this tour boasts multiple benefits to the local community. While travelling in the Desert & Mountainous regions of Sinai, work opportunities and therefore income is distributed between multiple desert dwelling families. Wherever possible we purchase local produce, encourage souvenir purchase from the Bedouin women and use local homes for meals. The projects we support in this region are:
Nawamis Desert School | An initiative developed by a UK charity that was brought about to enable the Bedouin villagers to remain in their desert homes and maintain their traditional way of life and still have their children educated. It also provides a special meeting place where Bedouin tribes can gather and celebrate.
Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Gardens | a local initiative to preserve Rare medicinal plants unique to the region. Herbs gardens have been created on various plots in land throughout St Catherine’s and are also cultivated in greenhouses for preserving biodiversity, research and for sale.
· Local Tour Leader Training| Most Egyptian Tour Leaders hold certification from the Syndicate of Tour Guides Egypt, which covers many aspects of the job as a classic tour guide. At Embah we take this training a step further with our In house training course that gives a more in depth and varied teaching, to enable our guides to work & deal in a multitude of regions & tour themes. These include the Eco Desert Guide course, established and funded by The Travel Foundation UK, International Tour Operator Tour Leading Courses, First Aid for both on land and water activities, PADI Snorkel Guide Certification and Healthy & Safety with Tour Risk Assessments.
