ACCOMODATION

Traditional Bedouin Camp | EMBAH’s nomadic desert camp in Sinai consists of traditional Bedouin tents, with carpeted areas for relaxing and sleeping. The Nomadic camp means that the camp will be set up and dismantled each day as you we move Mattresses are provided to ensure your comfort and sleeping bags can also be arranged. A kitchen area is set adjacent to the camp, where freshly prepared meals will be cooked on an open fire. Designated washing and toilet areas are set up and in some cases you can bathe in hot springs or fresh water oases. Our camp locations are picked for favorable weather conditions and stunning scenery.

Coral Coast Hotel | Our recommended mid-range hotel in Dahab is the Coral Coast Hotel***. With 30 en-suite rooms, a private beach, restaurant and bar (all set on the shore of the famous dive site, El Garden) this idyllic location lies just a few minutes walk from the main bay area of Dahab. EMBAH is committed to the elements of responsible & sustainable tourism, and this tour boasts multiple benefits to the local community. While travelling in the Desert & Mountainous regions of Sinai, work opportunities and therefore income is distributed between multiple desert dwelling families. Wherever possible we purchase local produce, encourage souvenir purchase from the Bedouin women and use local homes for meals. The projects we support in this region are:
- Nawamis Desert School | An initiative developed by a UK charity that was brought about to enable the Bedouin villagers to remain in their desert homes and maintain their traditional way of life and still have their children educated. It also provides a special meeting place where Bedouin tribes can gather and celebrate.
- Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Gardens | a local initiative to preserve Rare medicinal plants unique to the region. Herbs gardens have been created on various plots in land throughout St Catherine’s and are also cultivated in greenhouses for preserving biodiversity, research and for sale.

Dahab boasts some of Egypt’s most spectacular coral reefs for diving and snorkeling along with its golden sandy beaches and rugged mountain backdrops. Enjoy a full day snorkeling in the Southern Oasis at the entrance of the National Park of Nabq, a remote pristine area with a huge variety of colourfull marine life and coral. Free time in the evening to explore Dahab and its many cafes and restaurants along the waters edge. Overnight at Dahab hotel.

Today you are free to relax or explore at your own leisure choosing from our host of optional activities to suit all tastes from scuba diving, windsurfing, sea kayaking to rock climbing and quad biking. Discover the fascinating underwater world of the Red Sea with an intro dive. The session includes theory and briefing with an equipment overview and underwater session to a maximum depth of 12m (3hrs). Alternatively you can take advantage of our wellness progamme with yoga and meditation classes to prepare you for your desert adventure. Dinner can be arranged as a group or talk a stroll down Dahab Bay and enjoy an evening on one of the many sea front restaurants. Overnight in Dahab hotel.

4Canyon & Oases Trek

Venturing into the heart of the desert, you will trek on camels and explore narrow canyons before emerging into a lush oasis. Descend the White Canyon on foot (option to go in the jeep) and walk through the canyon for approximately 1½hrs before emerging into the Oasis of Ein Khudra, a lush palm oasis and natural spring, where you will have lunch in the oasis gardens. After lunch you will will take a trek to Mushroom Rock and Narrow Canyon (1hr by camel or on foot) before an off road 4x4 drive to the desert camp at Matamir. The evening is spent under the stars, around the crakling campfire. Overnight in Tradtional Desert Camp.

5Haddoudah Dunes

After breakfast a camel trek (2hrs) will take you deeper into the desert where you will discover the Frozen Dinosaur rock formation and the sand dunes of Haddoudah. This is a great place to try sandboarding as it is the highest sand dune in Sinai. Return transfer to our desert camp which consists of woven Bedouin tents, carpets, mattresses and sleeps up to 10 people. The camp is sectioned into several areas, a sleeping/relaxation area and a kitchen area which is set away from the main tent. Enjoy a delicious meal cooked over the camp fire before settling down for another night sleeping under the stars.

6St Catherines & Mount Sinai

Early am transfer to St. Catherine's and visit the monastery where you will spend the morning exploring the grounds of this UNESCO World Heritage Site visiting the burning bush and the richly decorated chapel. Stopping off at the Vistor Center is a must to learn of the significance of the region, from Historical reference, cultural and of the rare higriculutatl plants and herbs that are indeginous to the region. Depending on the season, we wil have time to visit the EU funded project, Fansina, a womans handicraft project that empowers local bedouin Women to teach younger generations the traditional embroidery & beadwork patterns and turnign them into bags, scarves & souveniers that are then sold to an international market. For lunch we are invited into the home of a local Sheikh to indulge the tastes of a home cooked bedouin lunch. In the afternoon you will ascend Mount Sinai (2½hrs) to see the sunset. Amazing panoramic views. Return to your hotel in Dahab for 2 nights.

Choose to relax by the pool after your desert exploration, try a yoga or meditation class on the beach or book one of our many activities on offer. Pamper yourself with a wide range of beauty treatments and a soothing massage from highly trained and certified professionals. Alternatively, join a snorkeling safari by boat or camel to Gabr el Bint or a trek along the coast to Ras Abu Galu, before enjoying a farewell dinner in the mountains cooked on the open fire, under the stars with use of our telescopes for some educational star gazing.
